Rocio Amador

Hello! My name is Rocio Amador and I am thrilled to be beginning my third year as a Bailey Bronco! I was born in Mexico, then lived in California for 6 years. In 1996 we moved to Las Vegas which has been my home ever since. I am a proud UNLV graduate with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. This will be my 11th year with CCSD in which I've taught 1st grade all of the eleven years.

My free time is spent with my husband and our twin daughters. We love anything Disney, playing games, and having movie nights together. We also spend a lot of our time with family and friends.

As your teacher, I promise that you will have a busy and engaging year, filled with challenging opportunities, flexible seating, and memorable activities. 1st grade is an amazing adventure and I look forward to embarking upon that adventure with you!

Kara Ellsworth

Hello! My name is Kara Ellsworth and this is my second year as a Bailey bronco! I have taught for 14 years in the district. Most of those years were in second grade, but I am enjoying a new adventure in first grade. I was born in Maryland and loved growing up in the east. I came out west for school at BYU Idaho where I graduated with my bachelors degree. I did my student teaching out here in Las Vegas and have been teaching ever since. I did go on to get my masters degree in curriculum and instruction.

I am married with a wonderful husband and two year old daughter named Avery. In my spare time I love having adventures with my family, reading, going on a good hike, cooking, camping and going on trips. I always love to get away to the beach or the mountains.  I’m excited for the 2020-2021 school year and the adventure that awaits us in first grade.

Amparo Johnson

Hello! My name is Amparo Johnson and this is my tenth year with CCSD. I’ve spent two years teaching fifth grade, seven years in first grade, and one year working with teachers as a learning strategist. This will be my third year at Sister Robert Joseph Bailey Elementary. I moved to Las Vegas from California with my family in 2011 and it has been my home since. I graduated from California State University, Los Angeles with a degree in Liberal Studies.

My free time is spent with my family and pets.  I’m an animal lover and at home I have two cats (Dude and Izzy), and two dogs (Angel and Bruno). I love to travel and discover new places, enjoy fun filled game nights, watch scary movies, and sipp my coffee by the pool. I also enjoy attending the Golden Knights Hockey games and watching the Los Angeles Angels Baseball games.

As your teacher, I promise that you will have a fun-filled engaging year, with challenging opportunities, flexible seating choices, and memorable activities. I’m excited to be part of your child’s first grade experience and I look forward to embarking upon that adventure with you!

Hello Bailey families! My name is Kathy Maple and I teach first grade. I have been in education for over 30 years, 9 of which were as a reading interventionist. Throughout my career I have taught in both elementary and middle school settings, as well as in California, Arizona, Nevada, and China.

I grew up in Ontario, California with my two sisters. I also attended San Diego State University. I have four grown children, three girls and one boy. One interesting fact about me is that I taught at an international school in China from 2013 to 2015. It was a fun and exciting experience. My dog, Bridget, and I have been living in Las Vegas for 4 years.

I love teaching first grade at Bailey Elementary School!  I hope to see you around our school.

Dayna Luca

Hello families! My name is Dayna Luca. I have taught several different grades but am very excited to be teaching 1st grade at Sister Robert Joseph Bailey Elementary School.
I graduated from California State University with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration but wanted to become a teacher  so I went back to school and obtained my master’s in education through Sierra Nevada College. In addition to my passion of being a teacher I am fascinated with psychology which is why I also obtained a master’s degree in Psychology.

Besides education, I love to travel and see the world whenever I get the opportunity. My goal is to visit all 50 states and at least one place on all continents possible. In my free time, I like to read, spend as much time with my boys and listen to music or be outside.

I look forward to our fun adventures and learning this year together in 1st grade.
